2024 FinAccess Household Survey
Description
Nationally representative household survey measuring the access, usage, quality, and impact of financial services in Kenya. Jointly conducted by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), and FSD Kenya. Key findings: formal financial access at 84.8% of adults; 52.6% use mobile money daily; 9.9% remain financially excluded, predominantly rural youth.
Methodology
Nationally representative stratified household survey jointly led by CBK, KNBS, and FSD Kenya. Improved measurement frameworks for financial literacy (OECD standards), refined consumer protection indices, and new modules on persons with disabilities and climate finance. Data and reports are published on the KNBS FinAccess portal in SPSS, Stata, and Excel formats.
